The Pyrénées-Orientales department offers a wide range of environments to provide you with the holiday of your choice. You can enjoy the beach (214 km of sandy beaches and rocky creeks), explore the heritage and treasures of the hinterland, practise sports throughout the year (sea AND mountains!)… All with 300 days of sunshine a year.
If you like excitement and physical activity, you’ll have plenty to choose from in and around Saint-Cyprien, a seaside resort where it’s easy to get around by bike. Hiking, mountain biking, sub-aqua diving, wind and water sports… There’s such a variety, even in winter, as the ski slopes and the joys of skiing and board sports are only an hour’s drive away!
As a border region, the Pays Catalan is a cultural melting-pot that offers an incredibly rich heritage. With its Romanesque architecture, the medieval town of Villefranche (later fortified by Vauban), cave paintings, the birth of Fauvism in Collioure, winemaking traditions and the Festival of Photojournalism, the department is simply overflowing with culture!
Activities for the whole family
A day on the slides in the water park, an encounter with the African animals at Sigean
or the residents of the Valley of the Tortoises, thrills and excitement on a monkey-bridge trail … There’s fun for all the family in Saint-Cyprien and the surrounding area. Because a successful family holiday is a holiday that leaves you with lots of memories!
